A yearly plan has been launched in Dubai to enhance the use of artificial intelligence, based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the aim of making Dubai the best and fastest in development and preparation for the future, under the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized the importance of accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies in Dubai, stating that this plan embodies the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to enhance Dubai’s role as a global hub for technology and innovation, and the necessity of leveraging the impacts of modern advancements in artificial intelligence across all sectors.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stated that he embarked on a journey of future leadership in 1999 initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum through launching Dubai for e-Transformation, which achieved successive milestones leading to the launch of Dubai’s Digital Strategy last year. We have achieved record-breaking accomplishments that have made us the primary hub for global tech and artificial intelligence companies in the region.
He stated:
“In recent years, artificial intelligence has evolved rapidly, presenting numerous opportunities for countries and governments that can harness it effectively, while others face challenges due to not keeping pace with this evolution, thus requiring swift action plans to keep up with the rapid advancements in technology and artificial intelligence.”
He remarked:
“With the aim of enhancing Dubai’s prominent status on the global stage, we announce today the yearly plan of Dubai to enhance the use and applications of artificial intelligence, aiming to achieve the objectives of Dubai’s economic agenda D33 by investing AED 100 billion in Dubai’s economic transformation and increasing economic productivity by 50% through transformation and innovation in adopting digital solutions.”
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum added that an AI executive will be appointed in every Dubai government entity as part of the first package of this year’s plan. Also, Dubai AI and Web3 incubator will be launched, along with AI Week in educational institutions. Lands will be allocated for data centers, and a Dubai commercial license for artificial intelligence will be introduced.
He emphasized that “the aim of this plan is to enhance human quality of life and well-being in Dubai.. and said:
“We will review and update it annually and launch new projects from it.. ensuring its alignment with all developments.. Dubai is a city that places human welfare at its core.. and therefore, we will invest all our capabilities and energies to make it the happiest in this world.”
The yearly plan of Dubai aims to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence applications and enhance quality of life in Dubai by integrating artificial intelligence across all vital sectors for the emirate’s future, making it the most supportive of the economy, best in technology utilization, and quickest in adopting advanced applications.
The plan aims to provide an ideal environment for AI companies and global talents by promoting competition, facilitating business operations, supporting advanced technological infrastructure, flexible legislative environment, and an encouraging system for the development of artificial intelligence technologies and advanced industries in technology. The annual Dubai plan aims to enhance the adoption of AI applications, with the goal of transforming Dubai into a global hub for AI governance and legislation. The first phase of Dubai’s annual plan includes appointing an AI executive director in each Dubai government entity to develop specialized plans and programs in this field to enhance government performance through utilizing the latest advanced technology solutions. The Dubai AI Center, affiliated with the Dubai Future Foundation, will assess candidates for this position before their appointment.
The first phase of the plan also involves launching the Dubai AI and Web3 Companies Incubator to build a large community for AI and technology companies, attracting innovators, startups, and industry leaders worldwide to support and enable them to realize their innovative ideas in reality and expand their businesses globally through Dubai.
Further, the first phase of the plan includes launching the AI Week in educational institutions to integrate AI applications in all aspects of the educational system to enhance educational outcomes, equip students with future skills needed in the upcoming job market, raise awareness among school and university students about AI concepts and programming, and provide them with the latest tools and methods in this field.
The first package of the plan includes promoting Dubai’s commercial AI license to enhance investments in the AI field, attract specialized companies and global talents to work in a world-class enabling environment that supports companies for more growth and development. The goal is to strengthen Dubai’s position as a preferred business destination for technology and innovation companies.
This first package of the plan allocates supported lands for data centers to provide a suitable environment to attract foreign investments, enhance the development of a global infrastructure supporting solutions that promote digital transformation in Dubai.
