The meeting between His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), and His Excellency the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of Korea, Sangwoo Park, took place today during his current visit to the Republic of Korea, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in the Republic of Korea, Sami bin Mohammed Al-Sudhan, and a number of officials from the Authority and the Ministry.
During the meeting, ways of collaboration between the two friendly countries in the areas of artificial intelligence technologies and smart cities were discussed.
President of SDAIA highlighted the efforts of the Kingdom in developing smart cities and the collaborative efforts of SDAIA with various government entities in this advanced civilization field, leading to the progress of five Saudi cities in the IMD Smart Cities Index for 2024.
During his conversation with the Korean Minister, His Excellency discussed the projects and initiatives undertaken by “SDAIA” to achieve the concept of smart cities, such as working on the National Platform for Smart Cities, organizing the first global forum for smart cities in Riyadh, in addition to establishing centers of excellence in several fields and providing a range of smart solutions to support development in the Kingdom.
Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing and expanding models of smart cities on an international level and agreeing on a common vision for implementing smart city initiatives. Initiatives of the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport that could contribute to supporting smart city projects in the Kingdom were reviewed.
