Microsoft is working on enhancing how the artificial intelligence assistant Copilot in Teams works through new ways to invoke the assistant during meetings, summarize them, and more.
Copilot can summarize Teams meetings, and spoken texts and written conversations will be integrated into a single display in the coming months to facilitate meeting follow-up.
In Teams, Copilot receives improvements in creating chat messages, allowing Teams users to rephrase messages in different ways.
Microsoft stated: “Copilot can edit your message to add an encouraging phrase for the user to take action, or express approval of the speaking style. Soon, you will also be able to create a new message based on the context in a Teams chat.”
The smart summarization feature for traditional direct Teams calls to phones will be available through Teams Premium in the next quarter.
The smart note-taking feature automatically records notes during calls, enabling you to summarize the call and review the next steps without the need to write down notes.
All of these AI improvements represent incremental progress, but they enhance the flexibility of the capabilities of the artificial intelligence assistant within Teams.
The integration of Copilot in Teams is a prominent example of Microsoft’s direction towards integrating artificial intelligence into Office applications, providing you with information summaries about the time mentioned in the meeting.
The company aims to enhance participants’ experience during and after meetings through the application of new mixed meeting features within Teams.
IntelliFrame feature for Teams Rooms, which enables automatic camera switching, is expected to arrive later this year.
Automatic camera switching is used to select the best camera in the meeting room, which can be cameras in the room or even from laptops.
This feature is designed to automatically change the camera view to provide remote participants with the best view, especially when a specific camera malfunctions.
Speaker recognition feature for any microphone in Teams rooms is expected to arrive, allowing you to record your voice and facial profile to capture everything you say in a Teams meeting correctly.
