A project has been implemented by the Abu Dhabi General Customs Administration to equip its land customs centers in the city of Al Ain with advanced inspection devices, which rely on artificial intelligence systems supported by continuous fast scanning technology.
This project aims to enhance the movement of tourist vehicles, buses, and trucks, and to ensure compliance with the highest globally recognized standards of health and radiation safety.
The project includes equipping two crossing points and enhancing the customs with 7 of the most advanced X-ray scanning devices in the world, and establishing two central operation and control rooms for the inspection devices equipped with state-of-the-art technologies.
The initiative to equip customs centers with inspection devices is one of the strategic projects of Abu Dhabi Customs to improve inspection capabilities and processes and facilitate smooth and fast traffic flow at customs crossings.
The new devices utilize fast scanning technology and can accommodate up to 100 trucks, 150 tourist cars, and 150 buses per hour. They rely on advanced and modern operating systems, making them the first of their kind to be implemented in the UAE. This has a positive impact on sustaining community security and protection and enhancing trade.
Mubarak Matar Al Mansoori, the Executive Director of Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Customs, affirmed that this project is part of Abu Dhabi Customs’ efforts to enhance the inspection system at various border points in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as part of the strategic priority “Enhancing Customs Security.”
The project aims to provide customs centers with the latest technologies and devices used to meet the requirements of customs operations and facilitate the movement of shipments and passengers, in accordance with the highest security and safety standards for employees, stakeholders, and goods alike.
He noted that the new inspection devices contain unique advanced technologies and technology, supporting Abu Dhabi Customs’ vision to be a global leader in the field of customs.
