The Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police has launched a smart robot in line with their adoption of artificial intelligence technologies. This robot will be used for traffic awareness education, responding to inquiries, and clarifying the nature of the services provided, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction.
The robot has a structure resembling the human body and is designed for awareness and interaction with the public.
Brigadier Mahmoud Youssef Al Baloushi, Director of the Traffic and Security Patrols Department, explained that the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies aligns with the wise leadership’s vision of anticipating the future. This vision is keen on utilizing the latest AI technologies to achieve a sustainable future.
He indicated that this advanced technology has boosted efforts, shortened time, and delivered fruitful results in police and security work, which has positively impacted community well-being and happiness. This was achieved by providing services that keep up with the latest global developments and accelerating the adoption of these advanced technological applications in digital traffic awareness and education through the presentation of digital traffic videos.
Major Ahmed Abdullah Al-Muhairi, Director of the Smart Traffic Robots Project at the Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols, stated that the new robot was programmed under the supervision of national staff from the directorate. It has been designed to engage and interact with the public at various events and exhibitions, as well as to educate drivers, road users, and pedestrians on traffic safety guidelines.
The smart robot stands out with its advanced features that allow it to display digital traffic awareness videos, respond to public inquiries, and address questions from clients at the Customer Service and Happiness Center. It also provides traffic advice.
Robots can be utilized to deliver educational lectures, along with providing safety guidelines to pedestrians and school students. They can also offer instructions related to school buses, ensuring vehicles stop when the school bus stop arm is extended. Additionally, robots can be part of organizing traffic safety competitions during events and activities held at shopping centers.
