His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, has ordered the activation of the Dubai Urban Design Platform, supported by artificial intelligence, during February. This initiative aims to make Dubai one of the leading cities in using smart technology in urban design. Through this platform, individuals can envision the shape and details of their future city and add new components that reflect their aspirations. This decision was made during a meeting attended by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, where details of the “Dubai Urban Design Platform” project were reviewed. The Higher Urban Planning Committee, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality and Tority Company, with support from the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation, is working on implementing this project. The aim is to enhance urban planning using generative artificial intelligence technology and empower individuals to participate in shaping their visions for the Emirate of Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized that Dubai, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, has achieved advanced leadership experience and has become a global model in various fields. Thanks to visionary leadership, it has made the future the basis of its work and placed humans at the core of its sustainable development, making it a center for designing and innovating solutions aimed at enhancing the quality of life of the entire community.
He stated that the smart platform enhanced by artificial intelligence in Dubai Urban Design, supported by contributions from the Dubai community, reflects Dubai’s commitment since its inception to developing future solutions to address expected challenges and changes, with the goal of accelerating and improving results to make Dubai the best city to live and work in.
The Director General of Infrastructure and Urban Planning Quality of Life Path, the Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, the Director-General of Dubai Municipality, the Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, among others, attended the event.
The “Dubai Urban Design Platform,” developed in partnership between the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation, the Higher Urban Planning Committee in the Emirate of Dubai, and Dubai Municipality, aims to enhance social participation and various sectoral partnerships, encouraging them to present their ideas and visions to translate them into tangible initiatives in decision-making processes related to urban design in the Emirate of Dubai, and to achieve optimal investment in design and urban planning projects by using artificial intelligence and seeking innovative opportunities for urban planning to promote an innovative environment for the community.
The platform supported by generative artificial intelligence technology encourages community members and partners in various sectors to present their ideas and contributions in implementing Dubai’s annual plan to increase the use of smart applications, to have a positive impact on decision-making processes related to urban planning in the Emirate of Dubai.
The platform will also explore innovative opportunities for urban planning to enhance the innovative environment for the community, aiming to make Dubai one of the first cities in the world to use generative artificial intelligence in designing its urban plan, in order to support optimal investment trends in design and urban planning projects through artificial intelligence deployment.
The platform will focus on using advanced technology to improve city planning and adapt to changes, as well as organizing design events in collaboration with the community through discussions and workshops that bring decision-makers and various segments of society together.
The project has been developed to be implemented in all areas of Dubai, in addition to encouraging community members and partners from various sectors to participate by creating their ideas and turning them into applicable initiatives through specialized workshops.
The project has been implemented as part of the efforts of the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation to explore global innovative projects with impact, adopt them, develop them according to development needs, align with the ambitions of the UAE, enhance national achievements, and undergo testing.
Experimentally implementing these projects to ensure their success and enhance their outcomes.
The development of the Dubai Urban Design Platform comes as a result of the center’s active participation in the events of the World Government Summit through the “Creative Government Innovations” platform.
The center is working on launching advanced business models to help government entities continuously test and develop ideas, with the aim of achieving impactful results that can be applied at the national level. This aims to align with governmental visions and societal aspirations in the UAE, and enhance transformative innovations and community government integration to improve individuals’ quality of life and elevate standards of living. The UAE aims to become a global model in the advancement and prosperity of societies. It was mentioned that the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Dubai Urban Planning Council and Dubai Municipality to establish the Dubai Urban Design Platform supported by Generative Artificial Intelligence technology in a new transformative project aimed at developing transformative innovations based on AI solutions and technology.
