Dr. Essam bin Abdullah Al-Waqqit, Director of the National Information Center at the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority “Sadaia”, explained that the Arabic linguistic model (Alam), which was introduced today on the watsonx platform owned by IBM, is considered one of the best generative models in the Arabic language worldwide. It serves the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all Arabic speakers around the world as a generative artificial intelligence platform.
During his speech at the conference attended by the Chairman of IBM’s Board of Directors and the company’s CEO, His Excellency praised the unique technological capabilities offered by the WatsonX platform in enabling large linguistic models, simplifying machine learning processes, enhancing governance and compliance in the field of artificial intelligence, and the flexibility of hybrid cloud deployment, in addition to the inclusion of the “Alam” model for the Arabic language for global use. This significantly reinforces the position of “Sadaia” as a leading company in the field of artificial intelligence globally.
He stated that thanks to the significant support received from HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to “Sadaia”, they are working tirelessly to maximize the benefits of artificial intelligence technologies. Among the products of “Sadaia” stands out the (Alam) model, which is considered one of the prominent generative linguistic models focused on the Arabic language.
The speaker stressed that large linguistic models trained on high-quality Arabic data are the foundation for the successful implementation of generative artificial intelligence, where “Alam” has been trained on more than 500 billion linguistic units. He pointed out their desire to increase high-quality data and improve the accuracy of models trained on them, reaffirming “Sadaia’s” commitment to making (Alam) the best model in generative artificial intelligence in the Arabic language worldwide.
On the other hand, Dr. Essam Al-Waqqit invited participants at the end of his speech in the “IBM Think 2024” conference to join the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit (GAIN) in its third edition, which will be held in Riyadh from September 10 to 12, 2024. He emphasized that attendees will have the opportunity to explore new horizons and establish effective partnerships to enhance progress in the field of artificial intelligence globally.
