The General Directorate of the Saudi Civil Defense launched numerous high-quality services during this year’s Hajj season to use artificial intelligence and available technologies at the command and control center at Mina.
The services provided by the Directorate during the Hajj season include the utilization of modern technology and artificial intelligence, such as the smart platform service that uses smart surveillance cameras in the holy sites to analyze and handle risks, including detecting smoke, fires, emergencies, and predicting risks. This enhances the speed of response from the Civil Defense teams and provides necessary rapid assistance.
The technical services include housing companies’ licenses for pilgrims, which facilitate safety inspectors in the General Directorate to verify companies’ licenses by scanning the QR Code installed at the camp entrances using the cameras on smart patrols, displaying license data on the mobile phone during the patrol.
The center benefited from digital twinning technology and integration with the geospatial gateway of the Civil Defense in Hajj by creating an interactive map of the holy places to allocate human resources and define the supervisory range for each field unit, including the training system, identifying hazardous locations, and taking preventive measures against risks.
