Spotify has now expanded its collaboration with Google Cloud to leverage large language models in analyzing user listening patterns of podcasts and audiobooks, aiming to enhance recommendations that suit each user’s interests.
Large language models based on artificial intelligence, such as OpenAI’s GPT and Google’s BERT, are trained on massive amounts of data to generate texts and other content.
Spotify has been one of the pioneering companies in utilizing artificial intelligence technologies, using them in music recommendation algorithms for over a decade. Now, the Swedish company seeks to extend this approach to its non-musical content, such as podcasts and audiobooks, using large language models.
Spotify, the giant in music streaming, is working on increasing its revenue by expanding its income-generating service offerings, such as podcasts and audiobooks.
Gustav Söderström, Spotify’s Head of Products and Technology, said: “Our technology aligns with Google Cloud’s commitment to building a better platform for running our products and enhancing innovation through emerging AI capabilities.”
Through its expanded partnership with Google, Spotify also explores the use of massive language models to provide a secure listening experience and detect harmful content.
