The Association of Communication Technologies for People with Disabilities has introduced the initiative “Alexa in the Service of Humanity” in collaboration with Amazon Saudi Arabia at the “Taqdeer” center, in the presence of Dr. Rafid bin Amin Fattani, the Regional General Manager of Alexa in the Middle East and North Africa.
The initiative aims to install tracking and control devices for lighting, air conditioning, doors, and appliances using voice commands in the homes of individuals with severe disabilities and elderly people, especially with difficulties in opening and closing doors and electrical appliances they face.
Amazon has provided devices “Alexa” that contain a personal assistant powered by artificial intelligence, aiming to achieve social responsibility and because the purpose of technology is to facilitate life. These devices provide the ability to control various home facilities through voice commands and touch on the screen.
“Alexa in the Service of Humanity” is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aiming to use modern technologies to assist people with disabilities and elderly individuals in enhancing their independence.
