In a world where technological advancements are rapidly evolving, the second GCC Hackathon on integrating artificial intelligence into general education has successfully concluded in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Hosted by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States in collaboration with Bahrain’s Ministry of Education, the event attracted significant attention from officials, academics, and researchers across the region. The primary objective was to enhance the utilization of AI in education, a subject of growing importance in GCC countries.
Future Prospects for AI in Education
During the closing ceremony, the Minister of Education, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, delivered a speech commending the event’s content and objectives, aligning with the efforts of education ministries in the GCC to incorporate AI into curricula. He emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to fostering collaboration with the Arab Bureau of Education to exchange educational expertise.
Dr. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Asmi, Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education, acknowledged Bahrain’s substantial support for the bureau’s various activities, noting that the student hackathon is part of a series of programs aimed at keeping pace with modern-day requirements and future aspirations.
The Importance of AI in the Educational Process
The hackathon featured the participation of 34 outstanding high school students from member states, divided into six teams, with the goal of enhancing their skills in AI technologies and planning innovative projects. The final results were announced at the ceremony’s conclusion, where the winning student teams were honored, underscoring the significance of such events in developing student skills and guiding them toward leveraging modern technology.
The GCC Hackathon on AI in general education represents a significant step towards integrating technology within the educational sectors of Gulf countries.
