Big data is closely linked to other digital technologies such as Cloud Computing in terms of storing and processing data due to its ability to handle large amounts of data compared to regular computers. Big data is also associated with Artificial Intelligence as an important source in machine learning to enable more efficient work by using different machine learning techniques (Supervised, Unsupervised, and Reinforced learning) and to build deep learning models. Furthermore, the use of digital transformation and big data in Business Intelligence is essential for creating new digital methods and strategies to manage all business operations.
Undoubtedly, there are significant challenges facing the optimal utilization of big data, such as the shortage of skilled and trained professionals in data science capable of efficiently handling it, as well as the weakness of infrastructure and systems capable of receiving, managing, and analyzing this data in a timely and efficient manner. Security and privacy are unquestionably part of the most important challenges facing big data, as organizations must ensure the confidentiality of data by storing it in secure and inaccessible locations to maintain trust between the organization and its customers across all sectors. In this context, the importance of data governance stands out as one of the crucial steps that every organization, whether small or large, must take. This step regulates data handling in terms of privacy, quality, ease of use, as governance aims to produce high-quality, clean, accurate, secure, and up-to-date data, making it the first step to data management.
To achieve the desired goals of big data and align with scientific and technological advancements, universities and technical colleges have a responsibility to build capacities in the field of big data by developing existing specializations or creating new ones related to data science and management. These specializations include, but are not limited to, Big Data Management, Data Analysis, Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Engineering, Big Data Developer, Data Consultant, Artificial Intelligence System Developer, and related fields. This will lead to building capabilities in this vital field, as there will be a huge local and global demand for these specializations, creating new job opportunities. Moreover, there is an opportunity for collaboration between universities and specialized knowledge and research centers to utilize different data analyses in scientific research across various fields and to establish pioneering technology companies specialized in knowledge to assist governments, companies, and various sectors in analyzing their rich digital content across all sectors to develop new strategies and add qualitative value and improve services in all fields such as industry, commerce, energy, education, and healthcare, along with genuine opportunities to establish pioneering companies that provide consultations for investors in various fields based on big data, enabling them to identify the most profitable and economically important investment areas through the data analysis conducted by these emerging pioneering companies and then offer them as advisory services to investors in various sectors.
In conclusion, big data has become a major source of power in any knowledge-based society, playing a significant role in supporting the relentless efforts towards sustainable comprehensive development and making decisions based on genuine understanding and analysis, which can only be achieved through sufficient awareness of the importance of this data, utilizing all available resources, and adopting a genuine knowledge economy underlying it.
