Almost half of CEOs – about 49% – believe that artificial intelligence can effectively take on “most” or even “all” of their duties. 47% of them say this could be a good thing, according to a survey conducted on the edX learning platform.
The study included 1600 full-time American employees, including 800 CEOs, as well as 800 non-executive officials.
According to the study: “It is clear that the majority of executives believe that artificial intelligence will be a major transformation.”
Artificial intelligence can replace many routine tasks. Some experts also believe it can handle other CEO responsibilities, such as market data analysis and suggesting ideas to improve company operations.
However, artificial intelligence will struggle to possess many of the personal skills needed by a skilled CEO, such as critical thinking, vision, creativity, teamwork, collaboration, team inspiration, listening ability, and vision.
This means that human CEOs are likely to remain in the future, but their roles may change drastically soon.
