Dubai University and the Artificial Intelligence Journalism Research Foundation “AIJRF” today launched the AIU Artificial Intelligence Index in Arab universities, which is the first global index focusing on integrating artificial intelligence and metaphysics technologies in humanities and theoretical sciences in university institutions, comprising 6 main indicators: curricula, university professors, smart labs, student skills, and scientific research, in addition to 18 sub-indicators.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Dubai University headquarters, where the University President, Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, the main partner in creating the index, emphasized the importance of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Index in universities to enhance the integration of artificial intelligence technologies in higher education.
He mentioned that higher education in the Arab world is witnessing significant growth in the number of universities and graduates annually, and universities must keep pace with advanced technology and artificial intelligence. In the UAE, there are pioneering models in this field, and the Arab Artificial Intelligence Index in universities (AIU) was launched to support Arab experiences. The index aims to improve the educational process in Arab universities and enhance the skills of students and academics to keep up with rapid technological advancements.
Dr. Said Al Dhaheri, President of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Index in universities, emphasized the importance of this index in boosting and supporting Arab universities to integrate smart technology in all aspects of the educational process.
He pointed out that there are significant opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence in the Arab world, which is the reason behind the idea of creating the index to enhance the effectiveness of the general strategies of Arab universities and integrate them with government strategies to improve and develop education systems and align them with global developments in this field by using advanced technology.
Dr. Mohamed Abdul Dhaher, President of the AIJRF Foundation, the institution behind the index idea and the main partner in its implementation, stated that the goal of “Arab Artificial Intelligence Index in Universities AUI” is to enhance the application of artificial intelligence technologies in Arab educational institutions in all disciplines, contributing to improving the skills of faculty members and students and providing them with the necessary technological skills for the job market. Our goal is also to evaluate Arab universities in using artificial intelligence technologies and support their applications in Arabic, in addition to spreading the culture of artificial intelligence among Arab universities.
Professor Saham Nassar, Deputy Director of “Arab Artificial Intelligence Index in Universities” at AUI, said: “Through the first of its kind global index, we aim to provide recommendations to Arab universities to integrate artificial intelligence tools and solutions in all their educational fields. Through the index, we seek to provide technical and professional support to leading universities in adopting artificial intelligence technologies in their educational curricula and developing the skills of faculty members.” She added: “There is now a large team working in 10 Arab countries, representing many prominent universities, educational institutions, and governmental entities.”
