The College of Engineering at Qatar University announced the end of the Artificial Intelligence competition for high schools for the year 2024.
The purpose of the competition is to raise awareness among school students about the importance of Artificial Intelligence in solving real challenges, and to encourage them to be creative and innovative in developing AI-based solutions.
Dr. Khaled Kamal Naji, the Dean of the College of Engineering at Qatar University, aims to increase awareness of AI technologies among students and enhance their local capabilities in this field. Professor Amr Mohamed, the Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the College of Engineering at Qatar University, seeks to cultivate students’ interest in this field to prepare them for future careers.
In this edition of the competition, participating teams were asked to develop creative solutions including computer programs, mobile applications, or integrated systems to solve challenges in the fields of environment, health, and support for people with special needs, using easy-to-use tools for school students. This edition of the competition saw the participation of 35 teams from 22 different schools, including 13 teams from boys’ schools and 22 teams from girls’ schools.
At the end of the competition, the winning schools were honored. Qatar Science and Technology School for Boys won the first and second places, while Musab bin Umair Secondary School for Boys secured the third place. As for the girls’ schools category, Qatar Technical School for Girls clinched the first place, with Um Ayman Secondary School coming in second, and Um Hakeem Secondary School securing the third place.
