Currently, Microsoft is launching the artificial intelligence assistant “Copilot” for eligible non-managed systems enrolled in the Windows Insider program. This program works on Windows 10 22H2 Home and Windows 10 22H2 Pro editions.
Participants in the Windows Insider program can start testing Copilot in the Preview Builds section by navigating to Settings, enabling the new option called “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available”, and then checking for updates after installing Windows 10 22H2 version 19045.3757 (KB5032278).
The team responsible for the Windows Insider program stated, “Users of Windows Insider on eligible devices in the Preview Builds channel will soon see Copilot on Windows. This rollout will be gradual, as we will be introducing features that require testing and review over the coming months.”
Microsoft is adding devices running Windows 10 22H2 Enterprise, Windows 10 22H2 Education, and Windows 10 22H2 Professional managed by enterprises to the deployment process in a later stage.
IT administrators can prepare for integrating Copilot with the Windows 10 operating system by following the guidelines available on the support page titled “Managing Copilot in Windows”.
Once Copilot is integrated into the Windows 10 operating system, the new Copilot icon becomes available on the taskbar, allowing users to launch the artificial intelligence assistant with a single click.
This leads to opening a chat window on the desktop for inputting queries. Additionally, Copilot in Windows 10 operating system also allows for voice interaction via the microphone icon within the chat window in the same way as it does in Windows 11.
Not all features of Copilot are accessible on devices running Windows 10, unlike the Windows 11 interface, functions such as opening applications or customizing preferences will not be available.
The trial version of the artificial intelligence assistant “Copilot” is currently available in specific markets around the world, and this feature is only available in the Windows 10 operating system.
North America and some areas in Asia and South America are the main markets for testing, with the expectation of gradually adding a new market to the rollout process.
The end of support date for the Windows 10 operating system will continue unchanged until October 14, 2025, as first announced by the company when introducing the chatbot Copilot into the Windows 10 operating system.
