Government officials, strategic planners, and data experts affirmed that the flexibility of regulations and policies positions Dubai to become a global hub for developing artificial intelligence applications and solutions. They highlighted the importance of regulating AI applications to enhance data economy opportunities, expedite developmental pathways, and expand digital economy prospects in the future.
This was emphasized during a dialogue session on data policies and regulations at the “AI Summit,” organized by the Dubai Artificial Intelligence Utilization Center in collaboration with the National Artificial Intelligence Program. The event took place at the Museum of the Future in Dubai and the 2071 Zone at Emirates Towers in Dubai.
Participants stressed the significance of adopting flexible policies and developing supportive infrastructure to establish advanced data centers powered by artificial intelligence, which necessitate easy access to open data. They also lauded Dubai’s model and advanced infrastructure that attract smart data centers from around the world.
Attendees praised Dubai for providing a flexible and attractive regulatory environment for investments in the data and digital economy sectors. They commended Dubai for being globally ranked first in attracting foreign direct investments in artificial intelligence.
The discussion revolved around enhancing public trust in artificial intelligence, safeguarding data privacy, ensuring ethical practices in smart models, fostering innovation and growth in this sector. They highlighted the importance of AI tools in data collection and improving efficiency in this sector, especially with the vast potential of utilizing only 10% of available global data.
Officials and experts underlined the importance of incorporating the Arabic language in AI products and models, training them in Arabic content, and enhancing the use of Arabic in the digital era. They pointed out that Dubai plays a key role in promoting the Arabic language in the field of artificial intelligence, leading in digitizing Arabic content and training smart models in Arabic, showcasing it in the digital world.
Participants discussed the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence in various fields, representing a new energy source that will enhance innovations and create positive impacts in individuals’ and communities’ lives. They discussed the benefits of regulating the data sector to enhance digital transformation processes and increase countries’ competitiveness in building advanced, intelligent knowledge economies.
