The company “EXL Service”, operating in the digital services field, announced the cancellation of 800 positions. The company stated that it will lay off 400 employees and provide 400 others with the opportunity to find new job opportunities elsewhere.
A digital services provider has redirected its strategy to meet customers’ demands regarding generative artificial intelligence, as reported by the American newspaper “Wall Street Journal.”
According to the newspaper, the company, which has approximately fifty-five thousand employees worldwide, has reduced the number of new hires in data analysis and digital processes within the United States and India.
On the other hand, the company is recruiting highly experienced workforce in the fields of artificial intelligence and creative artificial intelligence.
The company’s spokesperson stated: “We must ensure that our skills closely align with the evolving needs of our customers, which includes attracting top talent in data analysis and artificial intelligence.”
These measures come after a series of layoffs in technology companies, aiming to reallocate labor and resources from lower priority projects to the field of artificial intelligence, to attract growing commercial interest towards the use of AI applications.
The newspaper reported that tech workers who were recently laid off are now struggling with a harsh reality. Job opportunities for those without AI-related skills remain scarce and limited according to its statement.
The publication indicated that recent agreements are strategies to cut expenses and involve the use of artificial intelligence, or contain elements of artificial intelligence.
