eBay is incorporating the “shop the look” feature powered by artificial intelligence into its iOS app to assist shoppers in discovering personalized fashion suggestions.
The new “shop the look” feature on the platform will appear as an interactive scroll bar of carefully selected outfits, and recommendations will be based on customers’ shopping history, providing “similar items and style inspirations.” These recommendations will evolve based on individual habits and preferences.
“Shop the look” will be available on the iOS app in the United States and the United Kingdom, with support for Android expected later this year. This feature will be visible to eBay visitors who have viewed at least 10 fashion-related items over the past 180 days. Therefore, if you are one of these enthusiastic shoppers, the tool will appear on the eBay homepage and fashion destination page.
The e-commerce platform relies on its new tool eBay.ai, which is also responsible for launching product listings produced using artificial intelligence, introduced by eBay in September 2023. The company aims to explore expanding the tool into other categories beyond fashion.
Recently, eBay has become one of the many leading shopping platforms adding AI-based tools. Meta has recently launched a set of AI-based features for brands and sellers on Facebook and Instagram, while Amazon introduced an AI-powered shopping assistant last February, providing product recommendations and comparisons through the Amazon index.
