The founder of ChatGPT and former chief scientist at OpenAI, Eliot Sokolov, announced on Wednesday that he will be starting a new company in the field of artificial intelligence.
The company’s efforts focus on creating a secure artificial intelligence environment at a time when some of the biggest technology companies are striving to control the rise of creative artificial intelligence.
The company is called “Safe Superintelligence” and is described on its website as an American company. Sokolov announced the company’s launch in a post on Ex.
The post states: “Our singular focus means no distractions due to management costs or product cycles, and our business model means that safety, security, and progress are all insulated from short-term commercial pressures.”
He joined the company as the former researcher at OpenAI, along with Daniel Levy, the former researcher at OpenAI, and Daniel Gross, the co-founder of Cue and former AI lead at Apple, as the founders of Safe Superintelligence.
Sokolov left OpenAI with funding from Microsoft in May after playing a key role in the sudden removal and reinstatement of CEO Sam Altman last November. Sokolov was removed from the board after Altman’s return.
