Musk often warns that uncontrolled developments in this field could lead to human destruction. He previously warned that artificial intelligence could be “one of the greatest threats to humanity.” However, he also says that the potential benefits of artificial intelligence outweigh the risks.
He believes that the most likely outcome is abundance, where goods and services will be available to everyone, making work optional. However, he also warned that this could lead to an “existential crisis” for humanity. “If artificial intelligence can do everything you can do but better, what’s the point of doing anything? I think there will be an existential crisis.”

Although Musk considers artificial intelligence a existential risk, he continues to invest in artificial intelligence projects such as xAI and robotic systems like Tesla Optimus.
