The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, has voiced his significant concerns over the agreement announced between Apple and OpenAI after Apple announced the integration of ChatGPT in its products.
In a statement on the X platform, Musk expressed his displeasure with the idea of integrating ChatGPT technology into Apple’s operating system, emphasizing that if that were to happen, he would ban their products in his companies. He considered this action a violation of security and unacceptable.
During the unveiling of the keynote at the WWDC 2024 conference, Apple revealed its strategy in the field of artificial intelligence by announcing a set of smart features under the name Apple Intelligence. These features are expected to be added to their operating systems in the upcoming fall.
The idea of increased continuous use of smart technology has not been widely accepted by some of the company’s customers and cybersecurity experts.
Musk later added that this policy will also be applied to visitors, where they may be required to leave their Apple devices before entering his offices.
In Musk’s opinion, Apple is not sufficiently advanced in developing its own smart technology, despite claiming its ability to protect user privacy when handing over their data to OpenAI. In fact, Apple is not aware of exactly what happens when you submit your data to OpenAI, as you may be marketed publicly without your knowledge.
Some users of the X platform used the “Community Notes” feature to clarify Musk’s statements, revealing that Apple has developed its own models, and that large inquiries will be sent to the Private Cloud Compute cloud platform developed by the company itself.
Previously, the idea of producing a Tesla phone in collaboration with Samsung was proposed in response to customer demand. It was suggested that the phone would run on an open-source operating system focusing on privacy and be named X OS. The plan also included integrating all of Musk’s companies’ services like X and Neuralink, but it seems Musk has not earnestly started implementing that plan yet.
