The Chinese Union of Persons with Disabilities signed a cooperation agreement last Thursday with “iFlytek,” a leading artificial intelligence company in China, to establish a joint AI laboratory to assist individuals with special needs. The laboratory will be located in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province in eastern China.
According to the agreement, the AI laboratory will make significant efforts to develop and enhance human-computer interaction and smart assistive devices in the rehabilitation processes for individuals with special needs. Numerous research studies will be conducted on providing smart assistance to these individuals and creating practical cases to meet their needs.
Chu Zhangkui, the CEO of the Chinese Union of Persons with Disabilities, stated: “Providing science and technology as essential support to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and advance their cause effectively.”
Last Sunday, the Chinese celebrated the 34th National Day for Persons with Disabilities.
