Mozilla has revealed a new feature in the experimental version of the “Firefox Nightly” browser. This feature allows users to select their preferred artificial intelligence service to use while browsing the internet.
Through this feature, Mozilla aims to provide users with more control and enhance their experience with artificial intelligence services before integrating them more widely in the final versions of the Firefox browser.
During this experimental period, users will be able to choose their preferred artificial intelligence service from a range of distinct services, including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Hugging Face, and Le Chat Mistral.
Mr. Ian Carmichael, Mozilla’s Vice President, emphasized the importance of providing a variety of artificial intelligence services. He stressed the importance of giving users the freedom to choose the service that best suits their needs, rather than forcing them to use only one provider. He also pointed out that all artificial intelligence models are still in the development and improvement phase, each with its own features and drawbacks. Therefore, providing multiple options enables users to experience different services and choose the most suitable one for solving their problems.
The new feature allows users to interact directly with the chatbot of the artificial intelligence service on web pages. For example, users can request summaries of information on the page or simplify texts in easier language, in addition to other functions.
It is worth noting that participation in this experiment remains optional, and users can continue using the experimental browser “Firefox Nightly” without activating any artificial intelligence services.
Mozilla has responded to this growing trend in the web browser industry towards integrating artificial intelligence technologies, as companies like Google, Microsoft, and Opera have added artificial intelligence chatbots to their browsers to enhance the user experience while browsing the internet.
