Google has declared its decision to empower users to create custom chatbots powered by artificial intelligence based on the Gemini model, as announced by the company at the Google I/O 2024 developers conference.
Google has named these customized chatbots “Gems,” and they will soon be available to Gemini Advanced subscribers.
The main purpose of these custom robots is to perform specific tasks rather than using Gemini’s artificial intelligence for general functions.
Users will be able to create artificial intelligence robots with diverse personalities, such as a creative writing assistant, fitness trainer, chef assistant, coding partner, math teacher, and more.
For instance, users can create a personalized robot using their own instructions to be executed by the robot accordingly.
This approach helps users customize their experience with the Gemini Assistant across various Google services, making the robot more efficient and saving users a lot of time and effort.
This new move from Google is a response to the competing company OpenAI, which launched the GPT Store allowing users to create custom artificial intelligence robots and share them with others through the store.
Although this feature will initially be available only to paid Gemini Advanced subscribers, it is expected that Google will make it available to all users later on, similar to what OpenAI recently did by opening its store to all users, including those with free accounts.
