Google announced the start of experimenting with adding advertisements to artificial intelligence summaries in search results and purchases in the United States, according to a statement published on its official blog.
This was announced shortly after the launch of summaries in search results for all users.
Google presented a model of how ads appear in the summaries, where suggestions generated by artificial intelligence are shown with these summaries. It includes a new section titled “Advertiser” displaying offers for products related to the search query, and these products can be purchased from various online stores with just one click.
According to Google, ads will be displayed in artificial results when relevant to the search query and information found in these results.
The company confirmed that ads from advertisers running advertising campaigns through Google will automatically qualify to appear in the summaries, and indicated that it will continue to test new ad formats and take into account feedback from advertisers.
Google did not disclose the start date for testing ads in summaries, but this action could negatively impact the main goal of using artificial intelligence to provide quick summaries of search results, potentially increasing chaos in this new experiment.
Google recently began implementing the “Generative Search Experience” in its search engine, where it uses artificial intelligence technology to generate advanced and customized search results based on user queries. These results precede the summaries that provide traditional links redirecting users to relevant web pages.
Google is considered one of the best sites providing accurate and detailed summaries based on advanced content analysis on the internet, but some doubt the effectiveness of this feature compared to the traditional way of presenting results that give them confidence in the content without the need for artificial intelligence as an intermediary.
