Google is working on enhancing a premium version that requires payment for the smart chatbot they launched as Bard, as a response to ChatGPT introduced by OpenAI.
Since the giant search company cannot display ads in Bard as they usually do in search results, the ongoing question revolves around the means through which revenue can be generated from this service.
It appears that they can generate profits by introducing the advanced version of Bard announced in December, as indicated by the information embedded on the Bard website.
The source codes within the Bard website reveal Google’s plans to launch an enhanced version of their chatbot.
According to the agreed terms, it’s possible to use the Bard Advanced program for free for a period of up to three months, but after the trial period, you may need to spend money to access the service.
The link included in the source code hints at the integration of the advanced paid version of Bard as part of Google One services.
It is unclear whether the company intends to expand the advanced Bard service to include all subscription levels in Google One or if it will be limited to higher-cost categories and large storage spaces in Google Drive.
It is also possible that the advanced paid version of Bard will become a new additional feature in different service levels of Google One.
Google announced the launch of their new artificial intelligence model named Gemini in December 2023. This comprehensive linguistic model comes in three different categories, including Gemini Nano, Gemini Pro, and the unreleased Gemini Ultra by Google.
Gemini Ultra is expected to outperform other large linguistic models in almost all criteria. Google mentions that the advanced version of Bard operates using Gemini Ultra.
As per Google’s announcement in December, the release of an enhanced version of Bard is expected at the beginning of the current year.
Given the appearance of some marketing offers and initial pricing information within the embedded code, it seems that there won’t be a long wait before Google releases it.
Google has stated that they are conducting tests on the Bard Advance version with a limited group of testers, indicating that the code inside the Bard website may be within the scope of comprehensive testing environments.
OpenAI offers pricing through subscriptions for their advanced versions of GPT, so it seems logical for Google to explore this market as well.
Activating advanced language models requires heavy energy consumption and relies on advanced server infrastructure. Google’s traditional ad-focused strategy does not align with these massive models at present, hence the transition to a subscription model may be a way to reduce costs.
