Google presented during its annual developers conference a wide range of new products related to the artificial intelligence models Gemini, as well as the enhancement of artificial intelligence in the education sector.
The company introduced the Gemini application for educational institutions through the Workspace for Education platform.
There is a foundational educational program called Dual Learning available in English for teachers and adult students over 18 years old.
This plan enables users to utilize Gemini for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, Meet, and chat using artificial intelligence.
There is also the Gemini Education Premium plan, which offers the same features as the Gemini Education plan along with additional benefits such as the ability to take notes and AI-supported summaries in Meet, as well as data loss protection.
Google announced that Gemini Education is available for a subscription price of $24 per month or $192 annually per user, while the subscription price for Gemini Education Premium is $36 per month or $288 annually per user.
Students aged 18 and older in educational institutions can use Gemini for free without the need for any of these plans.
The company stated that Gemini comes with new features focused on the education sector. Artificial intelligence can explain topics step by step, assist students in applying the learning materials, and leverage data from sources like OpenStax books at Rice University.
Teachers can leverage Gemini to create lesson plan models, customize content to suit students, summarize research, add personal comments, and more.
The company pledged not to train AI models using data from teachers and students, nor share it with anyone.
Google is adding additional measures to protect the privacy of Gemini data in free Workspace for Education accounts.
During its annual developers conference, Google introduced LearnLM, which is a new set of generative AI models focused on the education sector.
The company announced that LearnLM is integrated into products like YouTube, Gemini apps, Google search engine, and Google Classroom.
Furthermore, the company stated that it will incorporate AI-supported tests in educational video clips on YouTube.
