Google announced at its annual developer conference new enhancements in the artificial intelligence model Gemini that help in trip planning.
In response to user demand, the artificial intelligence model has been improved to search through publicly available information and use specific details such as flight times and hotel reservations, to create a personalized itinerary for a multi-day vacation at a glance.
During a press conference, Google’s Vice President, Sisi Hsiao, confirmed that manual travel planning can take a long time ranging from hours to days, and even extending to weeks.
Thanks to Gemini, the trip planning process can become almost instantaneous and dynamic, meaning that the trip itinerary can be adjusted through modifications and other requests easily using the new user interface for trip planning in Gemini.
Google explained that the artificial intelligence model offers something different from other chatbot systems by integrating publicly available information and personal details that are only available in specific individual emails.
According to the company, a request like “My family and I are going to Miami. My son loves art and my husband wants fresh seafood. Can you get information on my trip and hotel from the email and help me plan a weekend getaway?” can be an example.
Gemini determines the trip route based on the trip details and the hotel mentioned in the user’s email.
The artificial intelligence uses Google Maps to find nearby restaurants and cultural destinations, filtering choices based on specific needs such as food allergies or things to avoid.
The tech giant company says that the new trip planning capabilities will soon be available on Gemini Advanced in the coming months.
