Google has introduced its new Gemini sidebar for its services such as Gmail, Google Drive, Documents, Spreadsheets, and paid presentations, including Google One AI Premium. This was announced during their annual developer conference, I/O 2024, which was held last month.
The sidebar, previously known as Duet AI, powered by the Gemini 1.5 Pro linguistic model, offers many features and benefits.
You can access the Gemini sidebar through your browser, where you can simply click on the “Ask Gemini” button next to your avatar in the top right corner to start the assistance experience without the need to switch between tabs.
When searching through Google, you will see suggestions for queries related to the search topic and automatically summarize the content related to that search.
This feature joins other integrated artificial intelligence features, such as the writing assistant.
In the past month of May, Google launched this feature through Workspace labs and Gemini for Workspace Alpha.
In addition to the online Gemini sidebar, Android and iOS users can now benefit from the summarization service in the Gmail app for paid customers.
Until now, the key feature of artificial intelligence in the Gmail mobile app has been “assisting in message composition”.
Gmail now has a new button called “Summarize this email” based on Gemini technology, displayed at the bottom of the subject line.
This button is only shown in email threads with multiple responses, allowing you to evaluate the efficiency of the replies.
