Honor has revealed two key innovations in artificial intelligence on devices during the ongoing global Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2024, focusing on enhancing user experience and ensuring their safety.
In its keynote titled “Integration of Human and Artificial Intelligence,” the company showcased eye protection technologies by eliminating focal point using artificial intelligence, as well as deepfake detection using AI.
These benefits highlight the necessity of AI directed towards serving humans and AI-enhanced devices to provide personalized services while maintaining privacy.
Honor introduced a new technology for eye protection using artificial intelligence called “Defocus Eye Removal,” aiming to reduce myopia problems resulting from prolonged screen usage.
This technology relies on AI to simulate the effect of defocus glasses using the device’s screen. This process aims to maintain visibility clarity in the center by stimulating the defocus effect on the peripheral part of the visual field. This technology can help slow down eye strain, reducing the risk of myopia development.
Honor’s research indicates that AI Defocus Eye Protection can potentially reduce temporary myopia by an average of 13 degrees after 25 minutes of reading, with some users experiencing up to a maximum of 75 degrees decrease.
To address the risk of deepfakes using AI, Honor developed a new technology for deepfake detection called AI Deepfake Detection.
This feature meticulously examines details in each frame, including eye contact, lighting, image clarity, and video playback, to detect imperfections invisible to the naked eye.
By training on a large number of fraudulent videos and images, AI can identify, analyze, and compare content within just three seconds.
If fake or altered content is detected, the technology immediately sends a warning to alert users and protect them from potential fraud.
These benefits demonstrate Honor’s global commitment to enhancing artificial intelligence through its devices, with a focus on user-centric innovations.
