Huawei Technologies, the Chinese company, announced today that it has made progress in areas ranging from operating systems to artificial intelligence, enabling the company to achieve what the United States and Europe have accomplished in 30 years in just 10 years.
Richard Yu, the head of the consumer business group at Huawei, made these statements during the opening of a three-day developers’ conference in southern China.
Yu pointed out that the company’s “Harmony” operating system is currently available on over 900 million devices, as reported by Reuters.
He added, saying: “Harmony has achieved great achievements. It can be said that in 10 years, we have achieved what our European and American counterparts have achieved in more than 30 years in terms of building the core technology for an independent operating system.”
The Harmony OS is an operating system launched by Huawei in 2019 after the United States imposed restrictions that deprived it of Google support for the Android system used in its smartphones.
Yu mentioned that the Artificial Intelligence Structure (Ascend) developed by the company, considered the strongest among Chinese companies, has now become the most famous after Nvidia, which dominates the artificial intelligence chip market.
Research firm Counterpoint reported that Huawei’s Harmony OS has surpassed Apple’s iOS to become the second best-selling mobile phone operating system in China after Android, with a market share of 17%.
