OpenAI has announced that their AI robot ChatGPT will now display the sources it relies on for the information it generates while browsing the internet.
The company stated through its official account on the Ex platform in a post that ultimately, this change provides more context for responses, making it easier for users to discover content from publishers and creators.
It is worth mentioning that the browsing feature in ChatGPT is currently only available in paid versions such as Plus, Team, and Enterprise.
The new feature will be positively received as it will increase the credibility of the generated information and reduce the likelihood of it being a “hallucination” created by the robot itself without any real evidence or reference. Users will be able to follow the links themselves and access more details on the topics they are researching.
On the other hand, the AI assistant Copilot, owned by Microsoft, provides sources of information it refers to in its responses to all users, whether they are regular account holders or Copilot Pro subscribers, and also relies on models from companies like OpenAI such as GPT-4.
Google’s AI assistant Gemini displays the sources it relies on and directs users to them through links at the end of the responses to help users verify the data.
Users of smart generation tools face issues with these tools often generating inaccurate or incomplete information in response to various requests.
