Today, “Alibaba Cloud” announced the opening of the Alibaba Cloud Academy for training in the Middle East and Africa at Internet City in Dubai, part of the TECOM Group, which will be a center for developing digital capabilities for customers and partners.
The new center will aim to train five thousand individuals over the next five years in the Middle East and Africa region.
The center will join the technology cluster in the city, which includes more than 3500 clients, including companies listed in the “Fortune” magazine’s list of the top 500 global companies, as well as small, medium, and startup companies that support digital transformation in the Dubai Internet City region.
The training center aims to hold monthly training programs to empower individuals with a wide range of advanced technologies, from artificial intelligence to database management and cloud computing, through a partnership with the leading company Aladdin Cyber Security in services and security solutions.
A statement issued by “Alibaba Cloud” today mentioned that the training program’s goals align with Dubai’s Economy D33 vision, aiming to double Dubai’s economy in the upcoming decade through digital transformation, as well as achieving the UAE’s “Vision 2071” in building a knowledge-based economy that keeps pace with future developments.
Erick Wang, the General Manager of Alibaba Cloud in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa, stated that the launch of the training center reflects their commitment and continuous investment in the region to support companies in digital transformation and achieving long-term success.
He added:
“We are committed to growing with our local partners and clients and strive to provide cutting-edge cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies to help them innovate and develop their businesses in the region.”
Ammar Malik, Executive Vice President of the TECOM Group – Commercial Sector, said that digital transformation is the key element for enhancing economic growth in the twenty-first century. He emphasized the need to develop a skilled workforce with the necessary skills and flexibility to meet rapidly changing needs, in order to achieve a positive and sustainable impact of digital transformation.
Malik expressed his conviction that competitiveness and flexibility can be enhanced through investing in developing skills and training talented individuals on the latest technologies, in alignment with the goals of Dubai’s economic agenda “D33”. He noted that the opening of the training center by “Alibaba Cloud” in Dubai Internet City will contribute to supporting economic diversification and innovation efforts, enhancing our position as a leading company in the technology and digital transformation sector in the region.
It is important to mention that in less than a year, specifically since April 2023, the Alibaba Cloud Academy program has trained more than 60,000 individuals worldwide. It has offered over 300 training courses, both in-person and online, along with providing 16 categories of professional certifications and 250 online practical labs in collaboration with over 300 global partners.
