In a move that underscores the growing trend towards enhancing international collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), Mohamed Al-Banna, founder and CEO of UAE-based Lead Ventures, emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with Russian companies in this vital sector. This announcement came during his inaugural participation at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 5th. Al-Banna highlighted that the support of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE, has been a significant driving force in seeking new opportunities and participating in this forum.
In an interview with Russia’s TASS news agency, Al-Banna explained that his participation aimed to explore Russian companies and understand their technological offerings, which are currently absent in the UAE. He noted that AI and technology are at the forefront of global interest today, and the UAE is keen to leverage Russian experiences to bolster its position as a leader in technological innovation.
Al-Banna asserted that the UAE has a profound passion for AI and technology, striving to integrate cutting-edge Russian technologies with existing UAE capabilities. He emphasized that collaboration between Emirati and Russian companies could create new opportunities and facilitate the exchange of expertise, enhancing the innovative potential of both nations.
Regarding concerns about Western sanctions on Russia, Al-Banna reassured that companies looking to expand into the UAE and possessing the necessary business licenses would face no issues. He stressed that Lead Ventures focuses on business rather than politics and is open to collaborating with any company that effectively serves a specific sector.
He further elaborated that his company has introduced new services following their collaboration with Russian yacht company Octanta Holding, showcasing the immense potential for cooperation between companies from both countries. Al-Banna noted that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, held from June 5 to 8 under the theme “Building a Multipolar World – Creating New Growth Points,” offers an ideal platform to explore new opportunities and areas for collaboration.
Organized by the Russian Roscongress Foundation, the event also features TASS as its media partner. The forum is expected to host meetings for small and medium-sized enterprises, creative businesses, a dedicated youth day, and specialized forums across various fields.
As the world navigates the complexities of AI and technological advancements, the UAE’s proactive approach in seeking international collaboration, particularly with Russia, underscores its commitment to remaining at the forefront of innovation. This strategic move not only highlights the potential for bilateral cooperation but also sets a precedent for global AI partnerships aimed at fostering technological growth and innovation.
