Dr. Engineer Kamal Al Hamad, the Secretary-General of the Commercial Arbitration Center for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, affirmed that artificial intelligence techniques are being utilized to enhance and improve international arbitration processes.
He noted that this step aligns with the national trends in the council countries, aiming to use these technologies to enhance digital transformation, develop various sectors, and increase the quality of services, production, and competitiveness.
Al Hamad explained that modern artificial intelligence technologies have significantly improved the performance and effectiveness of commercial arbitration processes in the council countries, providing enormous capabilities to enhance efficiency in these operations.
These technologies facilitate the analysis of evidence and testimonies efficiently, providing models and trends that give judges strategic insights to support decision-making processes and legal document preparation.
In this context, the center discussed with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, known as “Sadaia“, to enhance collaboration in utilizing modern technologies in the legal field and making arbitration decisions accurately.
Additionally, a joint research and development process is underway to prepare a legislative plan to determine the scope of using artificial intelligence technologies in arbitration and dispute resolution fields, proposing legal rules and technical standards in defining the parties involved.
According to a recent study by LexisNexis, 92% of legal entities and judicial bodies worldwide plan to increase the use of artificial intelligence technologies in analyzing laws and legal issues in the coming year, while 68% already rely on these technologies in their daily operations.
Emphasis was placed on providing training and qualification for judges and professionals in the field of settlement and judiciary in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in line with the modern era’s requirements.
