Majarra Arabic Content Company has announced its acquisition of Lableb, a company specializing in artificial intelligence solutions and natural language processing in Arabic.
This strategic move strengthens the leadership role of Majarra in Arab digital innovation, signifying its entry into the rapidly growing sector of artificial intelligence.
While the two companies had common founders and shareholders, this acquisition has made Majarra the majority owner of Lableb, enabling greater integration between the two companies.
The acquisition aligns with Majarra’s vision of creating a significant transformation in the quality of Arabic digital content and user experience, as well as advancing Arabic language technology in the region instead of solely relying on foreign platforms.
Lableb employs artificial intelligence and natural language processing technologies to deliver software products for content discovery and customization, including the Lablab search and recommendation engine for websites.
A diverse range of clients have relied on Lableb’s engine, including e-commerce stores, government platforms, news websites, and enterprise software providers. These clients require precise Arabic language processing to ensure an optimal user experience and to help users find the desired products.
Lableb collaborates with a number of major companies such as Microsoft and Amazon Web Services. Additionally, it is integrated with leading e-commerce platforms like Zid, Salla, and Shopify, as well as with content management software companies like NVS Soft.
Goumra was one of the first companies to adopt Lableb technology in the Arabic AI sector.
Lableb has enhanced the Manhom.com platform with high-precision Named Entity Recognition (NER) technology, making Manhom the leading platform for information about people and institutions in the Arab world.
Lableb’s search engine has also improved the efficiency of content searches within the Majarra app and its platforms. This enhancement assists users in directly accessing the content they seek by utilizing intelligent search capabilities across tens of thousands of items.
“Lableb will maintain its operational independence and continue to focus on developing products that address the challenges machines face in processing the Arabic language.”
The richness of Arabic vocabulary and structures, the change in word meanings with different inflections, the complex sentence construction, contextual connotations, the diversity of Arabic dialects, and other unique features have posed significant challenges to efforts in machine learning and processing of the language.
Lableb is considered one of the few companies that have successfully navigated these challenges.
In a joint message announcing this strategic move, Majarra’s Chairman, Abdulsalam Haykal, and CEO, Ammar Haykal, emphasized that “Majarra and Lableb share the same foundations and vision.”
Under the leadership of Kinda and with the team’s belief in the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence and natural language processing (NLP) in Arabic for business and corporate development in the region, the company has continuously worked on delivering an exceptional product by all standards.
We see immense potential in Lableb for offering tools that can achieve the desired practical benefits from large language models, some of which originated in our region,” said Kinda Al-Tarboosh, co-founder of Lableb. She added, “Joining a leading company like Majarra marks a new chapter in Lableb journey.”
We share a vision to advance Arabic artificial intelligence technology and natural language processing. This will drive innovation forward and deliver added value to businesses in our region and their customers.
“Lableb’s products are efficient, powerful, ready for use, and capable of handling millions of requests per week with ease,” said Markus Brauchli, head of the global investment fund North Base Media. He added, “Majarra’s acquisition of Lableb demonstrates a high level of adaptability to market demands and developments.”
By enhancing its portfolio with artificial intelligence products, Majarra is strategically developing its technological capabilities and services.
The proliferation of large language models presents a significant opportunity, but it can only be fully leveraged through intelligent tools, which is exactly what Lableb offers.
