The advanced technology company continues its efforts to provide AI-supported products to a wider audience of users.
In September 2023, the company unveiled Meta AI and spent the following months integrating the artificial intelligence assistant into its products such as WhatsApp and Messenger, so expanding it to include Instagram was expected.
In addition to testing the AI chatbot Meta AI with users in countries like India via WhatsApp, the company is also exploring the possibility of incorporating Meta AI into Instagram for chatting with AI and content exploration.
Directing search queries allows you to engage in a direct dialogue with Meta AI, where you can ask questions or use preloaded commands.
Meta AI helps you discover new content on Instagram. Some users have been able to ask Meta AI to suggest video clips for Reels.
This means that Meta is planning to leverage the power of AI text generation and use it to display new content from the network, such as Instagram.
Meta confirmed its experiments through Instagram, without revealing whether it uses generative AI technology in search operations.
A Meta spokesperson said: “We are working on developing our AI-powered experiences in different stages and testing some of it publicly on a limited scale.”
Instagram users face difficulties in finding high-quality search results on the platform, so Meta may aim to use machine learning to enhance the experience.
Meta wants to empower the platform to explore the best answers like TikTok. Google launched a new feature last year that allows displaying results from platforms like Reddit and TikTok.
And earlier this month , reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi announced the development of an “Visibility off Instagram” option that allows displaying posts as part of search engine results.
Meta is also looking for other ways to leverage generative AI, which could provide additional benefits. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, noted that creators should be interested in employing generative AI in areas such as negotiating deals, writing contracts, and developing ideas.
