Microsoft is striving to boost the utilization of Copilot by integrating it into messaging applications like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Telegram. The company has introduced the Copilot robot within the Telegram application, which requires the user’s phone number and operates outside the European Union. This move aims to provide Copilot to Telegram for free.
Copilot is part of Microsoft’s new initiative called Copilot For Social, aiming to integrate generative AI intelligence into social applications like WhatsApp and Telegram. The robot is currently in a trial phase and bears the Telegram verification badge.
While the availability of Copilot for WhatsApp is not confirmed at the moment, the official Copilot robot has been launched for the Telegram application and can be found by searching CopilotOfficialBot@.
The Copilot robot for Telegram can be used in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Asia through computers, mobile devices, and the web. Microsoft insists on entering the user’s phone number for security reasons and does not store this number for any other purpose.
Copilot’s capabilities for the Telegram application are still modest compared to the web or Windows version, as it can perform most tasks including searching, planning, knowing about movies, and games. It is known that it does not support image generation or use of ChatGPT-4o.
The Copilot robot relies on ChatGPT-4 models and internal Microsoft models, where switching between creative, balanced, and precise modes is not possible. Microsoft indicates that using the robot is limited to text requests and can be used for a variety of purposes from fact-finding to fitness planning.
Lastly, Microsoft noted that the number of times Copilot can be used within Telegram is limited to 30 times daily, and users are required to provide their phone numbers to verify the account location. If a European Union code is detected, Microsoft prohibits the use of the robot to protect user privacy.
