Microsoft is acquiring two parcels of land in Wisconsin, USA, with the aim of constructing a new data center.
The area of the land purchased by the American technology company is 407 acres for a value of 76 million dollars, acquired earlier this month, as reported by the Milwaukee Business Journal.
The total deal surpasses more than three times the amount offered by the local government to the property owner in 2017, as part of an agreement with Foxconn, specializing in assembling iPhones.
Simultaneously, Microsoft has entered into real estate agreements with local governments and counties in the region to develop its data center.
According to the report, the first phase of the billion-dollar development project is currently underway, expecting to create 200 job opportunities, with future construction operations potentially adding 460 additional positions.
As competition in the artificial intelligence field intensifies, tech giants like Microsoft are heavily investing in establishing data centers.
A report by Wedbush predicts that Microsoft’s stock will reach its peak in 2024, thanks to the growing interest of Microsoft Azure customers in new technology products.
