Microsoft has announced a significant upgrade to the artificial intelligence assistant Copilot for the cloud service Microsoft 365, which includes Office applications as well as Outlook and OneDrive.
The company declared: “You can now enjoy priority access to GPT-4 Turbo for quick and comprehensive responses with web and work data, as well as remove chat limits with increased file loading speed.”
This move follows the availability of OpenAI, an ally of Microsoft, offering the GPT-3.5 model for free unlimited use to users without the need to log in, which may compel Microsoft and other companies competing in the field of artificial intelligence to enhance their paid offerings, such as Copilot, to justify their costs.
Microsoft earlier this month decided to open the Copilot GPT Builder to all Copilot Pro subscribers, enhancing the capabilities of the innovative artificial intelligence assistant.
The updates include Copilot for Microsoft 365 now automatically starting its sessions using GPT-4 Turbo as the artificial intelligence model.
In November, OpenAI announced GPT-4 Turbo for the first time, allowing users to input long claims faster.
This means that users of GPT-4 and Copilot for Microsoft 365 can input large chunks of texts or information in claims and have artificial intelligence respond to, analyze, and edit them.
Currently, users of Copilot for Microsoft 365 can send messages and participate in unlimited conversations with Copilot without restrictions.
Microsoft announced that Copilot comes with the company’s system for protecting business data, where it anonymizes and encrypts web traffic sent by Microsoft 365 users outside their company’s scope using the Entra identifier.
In this case, the system anonymizes and encrypts the claims entered by Copilot and any other information accessed through Copilot before sending them to Copilot and GPT-4. This is based on the amount of data Copilot is granted access to, such as Outlook emails or contact data.
Once the user closes the chat window or ends the session, Microsoft promptly deletes the information.
Microsoft encourages users to rely on Copilot to safeguard sensitive company data.
The company stated: “Cooperating with Copilot helps you review your email to find important messages, prioritize them, and prepare for key meetings by gathering information, all while using enterprise-level data protection to ensure the safety of your data within Microsoft 365 service.”
