The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is currently developing a system that enables astronauts to perform movements and conduct experiments through an interface similar to the ChatGPT application, as reported by the British newspaper “The Guardian.”
Dr. Larissa Suzuki, an expert in next-generation space communications, stated in a meeting: “The idea is to reach a stage where we can interact with spacecraft, allowing them to send alerts and interesting findings they observe in the solar system and neighboring planets. It is no longer just a scientific fantasy.”
NASA aims to deploy the system on its “Lunar Gateway,” a space station orbiting the moon providing support for the “Artemis” mission. The system will be used as a natural language interface allowing astronauts to seek advice on experiments or perform maneuvers without the need for complex manuals.
NASA Space Agency reported that the system requires the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to manage various systems. This includes prioritizing data transmission, autonomous operations, maintaining the gateway’s health, and executing other tasks.
