A new feature is being developed by the instant messaging platform WhatsApp that allows users to create profile pictures using machine learning, as observed in the latest beta version of the application on the Android system.
According to images shared by WABetaInfo, users will be able to add a description for their desired profile picture through text commands directly within the app, and the app will execute it immediately.
This feature enables the creation of unique pictures that reflect users’ personalities, interests, and moods, while reducing the need to share real photos of themselves and set them as their profile pictures in the app if they do not wish to do so.
On the other hand, WhatsApp has recently implemented a feature to block taking screenshots of profile pictures for accounts within the app to prevent misuse.
The feature of creating profile pictures with artificial intelligence is still under development in the WhatsApp app, and is expected to be available to users soon.
Previously, the platform has added other AI-powered features, such as creating stickers through text commands, as well as the presence of the Meta AI chatbot in some regions around the world, which acts as an intelligent assistant to provide information, recommendations, and create unique images based on text commands.
It is important to mention that all artificial intelligence features primarily rely on AI models developed by Meta, the platform owner, and are working to provide them across all its platforms.
The introduction of these features may have a significant impact on instant messaging applications, as this step can encourage competing apps to develop similar features to maintain their competitiveness.
