The innovative Omani young man, Khalid bin Mohammed Al Kamzari, who graduated from Shinas College of Technology and Applied Sciences, has succeeded in developing a new device called “Smart Resuscitation and Oxygen Production”. This device is designed to be equipped with smart technologies such as sensing and Internet connectivity to enable continuous monitoring and provision of appropriate care to patients.
Al Kamzari stated that the innovation project aims to develop a device capable of providing medical care and generating oxygen in emergency situations. The device operates by extracting oxygen from the surrounding air using desalination and purification technologies, and delivering it quickly and efficiently to the patient to improve oxygen levels in the blood and enhance the breathing process.
He explained that the main idea of the project was to develop a new device that combines healthcare and oxygen production, which helps improve patient care in emergencies and provide a sustainable oxygen source in areas with limited medical supplies.
He mentioned that the device project has gone through several stages, including planning and research where the need for the device was studied, specifications and requirements were identified, by conducting necessary research to understand available technology and recent innovations. They then moved to the design and development stage where the device was designed according to the specified specifications and using appropriate smart technology. Software and hardware necessary for monitoring patient conditions and generating oxygen effectively and safely were developed. In the testing and experimentation stage, tests and experiments were conducted on the device to verify its performance and effectiveness, in addition to analyzing extracted data, improving performance, and making necessary adjustments.
Al Kamzari explained that the device project consists of a set of devices and sensors used to monitor patient conditions and provide necessary care, a screen for displaying monitoring data, sensors for measuring vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate, tubes and materials for delivering oxygen to the patient. It also includes a system for producing oxygen through innovative methods using an air purification unit, and a system for storing and distributing oxygen. Smart technology has been used in the project such as remote sensing and wireless communication technologies to transmit data to relevant doctors. The device can also utilize artificial intelligence techniques and data analysis to improve diagnostic accuracy and provide individual care.
The project aims to improve healthcare for patients in emergencies and ensure a sustainable oxygen source, as well as enhance environmental sustainability by producing oxygen from limited sources like the surrounding air. The project also aims to reduce dependence on traditional sources like compressed cylinders, reduce associated expenses, protect the environment, and improve environmental sustainability through the use of smart technology and innovation, including network connectivity and advanced sensor devices, to enhance medical care efficiency and provide oxygen in more effective ways.
