OpenAI is offering an opportunity for owners of emerging artificial intelligence companies to apply for a funding round of one million dollars, along with exclusive informational and educational resources from their startup fund, by participating in a six-week program executed for six hours a week.
Individuals without prior experience in artificial intelligence or who do not use OpenAI products can apply.
Sam Altman and Mira Murati, leaders at OpenAI, shared a link on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce the launch of the Converge 2 program.
This program is the second in the portfolio of startup companies offered by OpenAI, as the company launched the “Converge” program in December 2022.
The company invites individuals interested in artificial intelligence ventures worldwide to submit their applications through the OpenAI website, where they must provide minimal information about themselves and their ideas. The company aims to provide funding, training, and expertise to help them establish and develop their companies.
The startup fund affiliated with OpenAI selects between 10 and 15 different companies for funding, offering each company up to a million dollars.
While this funding may not be significant for most startups announcing multimillion-dollar seed rounds, it can be extremely beneficial for those in the pre-seed and early stages of the company building and ideation journey.
OpenAI aims to hear your opinion, even if you have not written any code or raised any funds yet but your idea is still lingering in your mind, according to an online application format.
Applicants need to provide their names and a brief description of their company in one line, along with links to their social media accounts, and include a link to a short video showcasing the idea and lasting 30 seconds.
OpenAI does not compel applicants to use or adhere to its product application programming interfaces; it offers the program to anyone interested in leveraging or relying on advanced artificial intelligence models.
The application process remains open until January 26, 2024, with the program running from March 11, 2024, to April 19, 2024; however, the commitment to six hours per week is set.
Successful individuals can attend thereafter, with the first and final two weeks of the program organized as in-person events in San Francisco, and OpenAI covers travel expenses.
The middle weeks allow flexibility for remote participation; however, physical attendance is strongly recommended.
The company designed this program to provide a unique learning and development experience, where participants engage in exciting technical discussions, intense working hours, and enjoyable social events.
They can also interact with startup founders and gain experience in the crucial opportunities and challenges in artificial intelligence development.
Prior experience in artificial intelligence systems is not a prerequisite, providing a wide range of opportunities for innovators in the program.
