Company OpenAI reported that the ChatGPT app is now available for users of macOS computers. The company unveiled this app along with other notable updates during the “Spring Event” held last May.
The ChatGPT app on macOS uses the advanced model GPT-4o, allowing users to send their questions to the chatbot through writing or voice, just like on the website.
You can access the ChatGPT app on Mac devices through email, Google account, or Microsoft account.
The app makes using ChatGPT easier compared to the website accessed through the browser, as it can be activated from any screen using the keyboard shortcut “Option + Space”. Additionally, there is a search bar similar to the Spotlight feature on Apple devices to write questions and inquiries.
The app is compatible with Mac computers and supports a variety of inputs. For example, files, images, or screenshots can be uploaded, in addition to selecting a part of the text in a document and giving instructions about it in ChatGPT.
Through the menu bar, you can start a temporary chat, control various features like memory and archived conversations, as well as export conversations and adjust text size, among other things. Previous conversations with ChatGPT can also be accessed through the left sidebar in the app.
The ChatGPT app has been provided on macOS for distinguished users since its launch, and the company also offers native apps for Android and iPhone devices.
OpenAI is developing an app for the Windows operating system, expected to be released “later this year”.
