OpenAI has announced significant enhancements in ChatGPT, the AI assistant, allowing customization for specific purposes that align with users’ needs.
These features will be available to subscribers of the paid version known as “ChatGPT Plus.” They will also be accessible to business clients to create customized versions of ChatGPT for employee use during work.
Experts can introduce customized versions of ChatGPT into the upcoming OpenAI marketplace and the company has pledged to share revenue with designers based on their usage, with no need for any coding.
This announcement was made at the first developers’ conference organized by OpenAI in San Francisco, USA, nearly a year after the public release of ChatGPT.
According to an official statement from the company, customers have requested customization options that suit their unique methods of usage since the launch of ChatGPT.
The company had introduced the “Custom Prompts” feature several months ago to allow specifying preferences for ChatGPT when answering questions. However, the new customization benefits will offer users more control.
OpenAI’s new feature positions it in competition with other companies like Meta and Character.AI, providing users with the ability to tailor AI models to their needs.
The company emphasized that it would only accept models of ChatGPT, also known as GPTs, from verified customers. Designers of these models won’t have access to users’ conversations and the company won’t accept models that promote cheating, hate speech, or pornography.
In a related development, the company announced price reductions along with significant performance and data improvements for GPT-4 Turbo and GPT-3.5 models. OpenAI stated that the GPT-4 Turbo model has been trained on updated information until April 2023.
OpenAI pledged to protect and defend its clients from corporate entities, intervening to provide necessary compensation in case of legal claims regarding copyright infringement through a program called the Copyright Shield, as per their official announcement.
OpenAI stated that the current number of users for their AI assistant is at 100 million weekly users for ChatGPT.
