“OpenAI has announced a strong start for the ChatGPT for Enterprise subscription by releasing some key information.”
Since its initial launch at the end of August 2023, ChatGPT for Enterprise has seen significant success. It has acquired over 260 business clients and more than 150,000 active users, according to new information provided by the company to Bloomberg.
The subscription cost for ChatGPT for Enterprise varies from one client to another based on each client’s needs, and OpenAI does not publicly disclose the prices on its website.
One Reddit user revealed that the subscription price per user is $60, meaning the company’s total revenue from subscriptions amounts to $9 million monthly with 150,000 users.
This is a significant amount for any new product after four months of its launch, although it represents a small portion of OpenAI’s annual revenue of $1.6 billion, according to The Information report.
While OpenAI did not provide a full list of its clients to Bloomberg, it did reveal a selection of its clients in a post announcing the new ChatGPT Team subscription, including the following companies: Block, Canva, Carlyle, The Estée Lauder Companies, PwC, and Zapier.
The disclosure by OpenAI of the figures indicates a strong demand from companies for chatbots based on artificial intelligence and large language models.
These issues arise as some companies express concerns about the use and deployment of artificial intelligence models, due to fears of biases, regulatory issues, privacy concerns, and data security.
This also indicates IT decision-makers’ readiness to adopt OpenAI technology, regardless of the leadership disputes that occurred last year and the emergence of powerful open-source large language models, such as Llama 2 and Mixtral.
It is likely logical because open-source large language models require more effort from a user to set up and operate them, in addition to the need for maintenance, tuning, and system security, without the availability of integrated support plans provided by OpenAI.
