Opera has announced the latest version of its browser for Windows, Mac, and Linux, named Opera One R2.
By launching this new release, the company aims once again to enhance its AI-powered browser, focusing this time on multimedia playback, tab management, and presenting an innovative design.
The second version of Opera One is now available for testing in the developer beta, with the full version expected to be released later this year.
The company introduces new features and design elements to give Opera One R2 a refreshed look, traditionally placing multimedia controls in the sidebar.
With the latest release, users can manage multimedia through a floating window. Opera emphasized that the resizable floating controls align well with the chosen browser design.
Depending on the size, the multimedia player includes controls like play, pause, skip to next or previous, and adjust volume.
The second version of Opera One comes with new features for tab management, including a window splitting feature that allows you to work on two web pages simultaneously.
The new version includes an additional feature that highlights recently closed tabs.
The colors of these indicators change to light or dark based on the time elapsed since the tab was closed. These indicators only appear for users with more than 30 open tabs.
Opera has introduced AI features, such as the sidebar featuring the assistant Aria, and the ability to summarize using AI, as well as enabling users to run large language models on their devices.
The company introduced some new features with Aria, such as creating images and voices and understanding images using experimental AI software. These features are expected to be included in Opera One R2.
With the new update, Opera has added a Page Context feature that allows users to ask Aria questions about the content of the web page, whether it involves searching for specific information, translating it, or summarizing it.
Opera pointed out that their research has shown that their users spend hours daily in front of computers, with the browser being their most used application. With the release of Opera One, they offered an innovative browsing experience incorporating artificial intelligence and a new way to manage tabs. With Opera One R2, they are focusing on enhancing the multimedia experience.
