An agreement has been signed between Emirates Global Aluminum, the largest industrial company in the UAE outside the oil and gas sector, and SAP to upgrade the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning system to the latest version of SAP’s S/4HANA software.
Emirates Global Aluminum relies on SAP applications to manage its operations, including marketing, sales, supply chain, finance, human resources, production planning, and maintenance, in all its global branches.
The company’s system currently processes over 150,000 business transactions monthly. The implementation of the S/4HANA software leads to a 30-fold increase in data processing speed, enhances ease of future computing systems development, and supports digital technologies such as artificial intelligence and real-time advanced data analytics.
The new S/4HANA system for Emirates Global Aluminum will be transferred to a private cloud via Microsoft Azure, enabling regular updates from SAP. The transition to the new system will be executed through the SAP RISE platform.
Emirates Global Aluminum launched its digital transformation initiative in 2021, aiming to enhance its industrial and commercial operations, improve customer and employee experiences, and add value through new income sources.
Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminum, stated that digital transformation plays a crucial role in achieving the company’s goals, aiming to advance the sector by developing Fourth Industrial Revolution applications, enhancing computing, software, and data analysis capabilities. He believes that these applications will contribute to enhancing economic growth and productivity across all aspects of the company.
In his statement, Carlo Nazam, CEO of Digital Affairs at Emirates Global Aluminum, mentioned that S/4HANA is a key digital solution for the company, providing a seamless experience for employees, aligning with smart devices, and easily integrating with the company’s advanced data platform, allowing extensive utilization of Fourth Industrial Revolution applications.
Manos Raptopoulos, SAP President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, noted that Emirates Global Aluminum prioritizes leveraging advanced digital technologies, always seeking to benefit from Fourth Industrial Revolution capabilities to enhance its competitiveness, improve its operations, and enhance employee experiences. Through S/4HANA within the RISE platform, the company will work on strengthening the flexibility of its core systems and developing necessary computing for modern technology. This new program is expected to reduce operational costs overall and improve user experience.
Emirates Global Aluminum relies on over 60 applications for Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies as part of its digital transformation plan, including using AI-based monitoring systems to instantly verify the quality of carbon anodes used in production and developing analytical tools to predict movements in key commodity markets.
Digital operations have enhanced the skills of approximately 2,000 employees in the company, leading to cost savings of around $90 million to date.
